Main Study

The Kid’s Health and Wealth Study

Children with kidney disease may experience poorer academic performance and quality of life. Caring for a child with kidney disease may place significant financial and physical burden on parents.

The Kid’s Health and Wealth Study aims to improve understanding of the health, cognitive, academic and quality of life outcomes in children and adolescents with kidney disease. We also wish to examine the impact of kidney disease on families’ financial wellbeing. We aim to work out how best to support families caring for children with kidney disease.

Who can be involved?

School aged children and adolescents (aged 6-18 years) with early to moderate stage kidney disease, those on dialysis, or with kidney transplants (and their primary caregivers).

Where is the project being conducted?

The study will involve families from hospitals in Australia and New Zealand; Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and Auckland.
